Phi Alpha Theta

Welcome fellow history majors, history buffs and masochists. We'd like to welcome you to a new year at Utah State. We hope to see you at all our events.

Phi Alpha Theta is a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students, teachers and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.

Phi Alpha Theta was established in 1921 at the University of Arkansas and is a Charter Member of Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS). There are currently 820 active chapters with 275,000 members. Annually 9,100 initiates join the History Honor Society. Phi Alpha Theta publishes a quarterly journal, The Historian, and a newsletter which comes out three times a year. Each spring 35 regional meetings are held nationwide. Phi Alpha Theta also awards more than 25 scholarships and prizes each year for a variety of personal and chapter achievements.

If you have questions about Phi Alpha Theta or any of our upcoming events, please send us a message. We also welcome and appreciate any comments or suggestions on how to improve our chapter, our activities, or this web-site. The e-mail addresses of our officers and faculty advisor are listed below in case you prefer to send a personal message to only one of them.
